Located in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, between Dolmabahçe Street and the Bosphorus, covering 250,000 m². Built as a residence and ceremonial palace for Ottoman sultans.

Constructed by Sultan Abdülmecit between 1843–1855, designed by Armenian architects Garabet and Nigoğos Balyan, combining European and Ottoman architectural styles, with a 600-meter Bosphorus waterfront façade. Opened after the Paris Agreement in 1856.

The palace hosted sultans, Atatürk, and foreign dignitaries. Atatürk passed away here on November 10, 1938. It has been a museum since 1984, with the Muayede Hall and gardens used for national and international events.
